GENERIS TO JOIN LANDIS+GYR FAMILY OF BUSINESSES
New partnership will provide end-to-end smart metering solution

Two market leading energy management businesses have today unveiled a new future for smart metering in the UK. Generis, a provider of industry meter and meter data management has announced that it will join the Landis+Gyr family of businesses, providing customers with an end-to-end energy measurement and management solution.

The world’s largest smart metering company, Landis+Gyr provides consumers with real time information on their energy consumption. Following the announcement, the company will now partner with Generis to offer electric and gas utilities the ability to communicate with their customers directly by providing a solution which reaches from the in-home display in the consumer’s home to the utility’s billing system; this will facilitate up-to-the-minute accurate billing and in the process resolve millions of pounds worth of billing errors – one of the utilities’ biggest causes of customer complaints and lost revenue.

Generis will continue to operate under its own leadership and will market its suite of high-performance applications under its existing B-Smart brand. The company has more than 30 million endpoints under contract and currently allows utilities to communicate with both non smart metering and smart metering devices. It expects the agreement to help it build on this position and to establish itself as the leading provider to global utility organisations.

As a part of the agreement, Andrew Bailey, co-founder of Generis has stepped down from his position as CEO of the company, and will instead act as a special strategic advisor to Generis and Landis+Gyr. Mark Royle, the existing managing director continues in his role and will lead the company into the exciting new smart meter era.
