OnStream choose B-Smart Converge for AMI Trial

Generis Technology Limited is pleased to announce that OnStream has chosen B-Smart Converge as its Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solution for an 18 month smart metering pilot project.

In today’s competitive energy market, there are increasing demands on the quantity, quality, accuracy and availability of data. This makes the need for automated, end-to-end processes all the more critical.

Data from a wide variety of meters must be read, edited, estimated, processed and passed to multiple market participants and systems. This data underpins critical business processes covering billing, settlement, tariff structures, energy management and customer care.

B-Smart™ Converge delivers the essentials for an automated, end-to-end AMI process - from metering to billing. It can be implemented as a stand-alone solution or in conjunction with other applications from the B-Smart™ suite in the Energy Retail, Meter Operations and Data Collections sectors.

Importantly the solution is not tied to a single manufacturer of smart meters thus promoting a generic approach to AMI systems deployment.

B-Smart™ Converge is built on the market leading B-Smart™ Flow Manager technology used by seven major UK energy companies.


OnStream (a National Grid company) is a leading dual fuel & smart metering business in the UK. Its goal is to be the preferred choice in the market place by providing a national service that is flexible and responsive to the needs of customers. The company provides an end-to-end metering solution by owning, installing and maintaining smart and conventional gas and electricity meters on behalf of energy suppliers.



OnStream is to trial AMI with its energy supplier customers in order to establish best practice, gauge customer behaviour and overall, assess the viability of Smart Metering technology. Trials will involve deploying thousands of meters in consumer’s premises. The smart meters themselves will be a combination of gas and electricity along with consumer home display units where appropriate.

Remote Meter Configuration
Scheduled and Ad Hoc Data Retrieval
Remote tariff changes
