E.on Energy Services use B-Smart RGMA MAM

Generis Technology Limited is pleased to announce that E.on Energy Services (EES) has licensed the B-Smart MAM product solution, including the Mailgate automated email facility, to support its gas Meter Asset Management operations.

B-Smart is an established market leading RGMA solution. EES will deploy and integrate the solution with existing systems in order to provide a first class Meter Asset Management service to the UK gas Supplier market via RGMA protocols.

E.on Energy Services Background

In January 2006, three separate business streams (Metering, New Connections and Home Installation) came together to form EES, with the vision of providing customers with all the services they would need to get connected to energy supplies, heat their homes and understand their energy use.

EES employs more than 2,300 people, manages over 2,000 contractors and has a turnover in excess of £250 million. Each year the company’s staff will visit more than 12 million households and carry out work in 600,000 homes.

The Metering business stream is one of the leading providers of electricity meter operations and dual fuel data collection services within the UK. This service encompasses the fixing of electricity meters and routine collection of gas and dual fuel meter readings against required access rates. The use of B-Smart will enable E.ON to carry out gas meter changes.

Their field of operations spans the country from Scotland to the South West, with one of the main aims to take on the responsibility for E.ON Retail’s entire demand for metering activity through management of third parties and internal delivery.

Energy Services is one of E.ON UK’s operating divisions – the others being:

Energy Wholesale - which creates and trades electricity and ships and trades gas.
Retail - Selling electricity and gas to over 6 millions customers
Distribution – distributing electricity to 5million homes and businesses in the Midlands area

EES has been seeking to augment its successful electricity meter operations business with a strong and similar capability in gas. In order to support this goal within the business we needed a mature and market proven solution.

After undertaking a detailed review of the market we chose Generis Technology and B-Smart based on the company’s track record and the maturity and penetration of the solution within the UK MAM gas arena.

The EES IS team is working closely with Generis Technology in order to deliver the production level service.
