Scotia Gas Networks Purchase B-Smart

Generis Technology Limited is pleased to announce that Scotia Gas Networks (SGN) has licensed the B-Smart product solution to support its Meter Asset Management operations.
B-Smart is already established as a market leading RGMA solution. SGN will deploy & integrate with existing systems in order to provide a first class Meter Asset Management service to the UK gas Supplier market via RGMA protocols

Scotia Gas Networks - Background

Scotia Gas Networks (SGN) is the holding company of Scotland Gas Networks and Southern Gas Networks. It is owned by a consortium made up of Scottish and Southern Energy (50% ownership), Borealis Infrastructure Management Inc (25% ownership) and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board (25% ownership).
SGN operates two of the largest of eight regional gas distribution networks in Britain. Its primary focus is on delivering gas to its 5.6 million customers safely, reliably and efficiently. SGN delivers gas:
To domestic, commercial and industrial customers via approximately 73,000 kilometres of gas mains
In Scotland, to 75% of Scottish households, including remote areas through Scottish Independent Undertakings (SIU) at Stornoway, Wick, Thurso, Oban and Campbeltown
In the South, across an area reaching from Milton Keynes, to Dover in the east and Lyme Regis in the west, including London boroughs to the south of the River Thames.

Working Together

Following the implementation of RGMA within the Gas utilities in July 2004, new flows & processes are now in place to allow suppliers to communicate with different agents within a deregulated MAM market. This requirement necessitated the need for the Market Participants to communicate using RGMA formats.
As a Meter Asset Manager, SGN is committed to offering a RGMA compliant metering service to the UK Gas Suppliers. In order to provide a rapid & robust deployment, SGN chose to work with Generis as a trusted industry partner to meet the required deadlines.
B-Smart, as an industry solution, first became operational during 2001. Since that time the product suite has continued to grow both in terms of breadth and capability. Generis continues to invest heavily in the suite hence its expanding footprint within the UK market. SGN has licensed Flow Manager, Meter Asset Manager, Contract Manager, Job Manager and Flow Director to meet the requirement.
