British Gas Purchase B-Smart™

On July 12th 2002, British Gas completed the purchase of Generis Technology's B-Smart™ product.
British Gas Trading had been running a bespoke Meter Asset Database (MDB) system, also written by Generis Technology, and the forerunner of B-Smart™, since November 2001.
The pace and success by which Generis have created B-Smart™ and the breadth of functionality included within the product had impressed British Gas Trading to the point that it made more sense to be on an industry based product suite, rather than a bespoke implementation.
Generis and British Gas Trading worked together during the weekend of 13th/14th July to replace the existing live MDB system with B-Smart™ in a trouble free operation.
British Gas Trading will now use B-Smart's Flow Manager, Meter Asset Manager and Job Manager Components. Looking forward to the future British Gas also plan to utilise the REMA compliant version of B-Smart™ for Electricity, currently scheduled to be released at the end of Q1 2003.
