Today at Ofgem Offices in London, the Industry Metering Separation Implementation Forum (IMSIF) voted in favour of implementing the Review of Gas Metering arrangements on the 12th July 2004. Attendees included the Gas Suppliers, Shippers, Transporters (including National Grid Transco) and Meter Asset Managers. Ofgem recorded a formal vote as 18 in favour and 2 against.
This decision represents a major milestone for the RGMA project that has taken four years to date and is now two years later than Ofgem initial target. RGMA represents the largest single change to the deregulated UK gas industry since the initial separation of the regional gas business to commercial operators.
During the months leading up to this decision various functional, technical and commercial issues threatened the 12th July go live date. Using the flexibility of B-Smart™ Generis Technology was able to react quickly and positively to industry changes as they emerged. This was a key factor in helping to maintain the 12th July date for our client base
