B-Smart™ clients successfully go live with Ofgem RGMA Project

Today four of the largest UK Gas Suppliers, British Gas, Powergen, Scottish Power & Scottish and Southern Energy(1) implemented major changes to support the 'Go-Live' of the Ofgem Review of Gas Metering Arrangements (RGMA) project using B-Smart™ software products from Generis Technology Ltd.
A total of 18.1 million out of the 21 million Gas meters in the UK (86%) are now managed B-Smart™ software products for Gas Supplier and Shipper market participants. All clients implemented the B-Smart™ software, and other systems and business process changes over the weekend, smoothly, on time and without any problems.
The RGMA project took four years in the design and development of standard industry metering business processes and new data flow formats to enable competition within UK Gas Metering services. The project also enabled separation of National Grid Transco's transportation and metering businesses.
Generis Technology Ltd invested directly into this key industry project, by attending and fully participating in industry RGMA meetings and holding eleven full day joint client initiative sessions to develop the software changes over a two-year period. Multiple software releases through the finalisation of the RGMA design enabled all four clients to system test in parallel and then initiate the three-month industry testing cycle on time with a robust software baseline.

(1) Scottish & Southern Energy use B-Smart™ software through a bureaux services operated by LogicaCMG, which provides B-Smart™ software directly to their staff using Internet web-browsers and the Oracle Web Form Server.
